Revelation
INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH MINISTRY

Celestial

A "Revelation" lesson taught by Dr. Arnella Elizabeth Pierce. In order to understand Revelation you must first be educated in Biblical truths. Many believe that all spiritual beings are "angels", this is a misconception, but allow me the opportunity to impart a seed of truth into the soil of your understanding.  All angelic hosts are not of the same spiritual fabric...Neither are they the same in hierarchy, that is spiritual position or duty, nor of the same bodily form. The truth is based on the support of insight into scriptures, that there are nine choirs of celestial hierarchy, they are:

1.  Seraphims
2.  Cherubims
3.  Thrones
4.  Dominions
5.  Powers
6.  Virtues
7.  Principalities
8.  Archangels
9.  Angels

It is vital to our spiritual growth to have an understanding of the importance of "order"...God^s order. These sons of God are very different in form, character and personalities. There are "celestial" levels in which they serve, and yes, some have a higher and stronger position than others...these levels are called triads, there are three of these levels or triads and the highest being strongest because the first triad is closest to God.

First Triad: Seraphims, Cherubims & Thrones.

Second Triad: Dominions, Powers & Virtues.

Third Triad: Principalities, Archangels & Angels

And then there is man, we are all here to serve God, we all have our positions, Psalms 8: 4 & 5 says, "What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour." Our position is quite obvious, special in God^s eyes. What we must remember is that we are not alone. These celestial spiritual beings are to serve God in a way that man cannot, Colossians 1:16 says, "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: "All" things were created by Him, and for Him".  That scripture says a multitude about every being, spirit or flesh, we are all Gods for God.

But who are these celestial beings, and what do they do that we, man, can not do? Let^s examine the specifics about each spiritual being that we have listed:

Seraphim: The Seraphims are celestial "creatures", not of any form that man^s eyes can behold because, these "creatures" abide around the Throne of God. The Seraphim are called "the fiery or burning ones", due to their poition being the closest celestial servant to the Son (Jesus)...Isiah 6:17.

Cherubim: These spiritual beings are seen as "creatures", due to their great and awesome appearance, Ezekiel 10: 10-14 "And as for their appearances they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel. And everyone had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. And the Cherubims were lifed up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar". They are found guarding the entrance of the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3:24, and they are found at the Lord God^s house, Ezekiel 10:19, guarding and in obedience to the Lords, every command.

Thrones: This is another great "creature" of God. It is evident that God is magnificent and "terrible" and it is no wonder that "no man" has ever seen God, truly this magnitude of power can not be beheld by any mans eyes and that man live. These "creatures", the Thrones, represent the eyes of God. Strange and amazing are these "creatures, Ezekiel 1: 5-20 describes them this way, "Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And everyone had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf^s foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. And they went every one stright forward: whither the spirit was to go they went; and they turned not when they went; As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. Now as I beheld the living creatures...Behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, whith his four faces. The appearnace of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they wentAs for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. And when the living creatures went the wheels went by them: ans when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up...Whithersoever the spirit was to go they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels." God^s eyes are everywhere, there is no thing that is done that God can not see.

Dominions: For God^s good service, might with great force and strength, Dominions exercise their influence and lordship. Colossians 1:16, "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him. These angels regulate the duties of the angels, making known the commands of God.

Powers: These celestial beings are known as potentates, credited as being the first order of angels created by God. It is the duties of the Powers to protect the world from being taken over by Demons. The reside in the region, between the first and second heavens, and they patrol against devilish infiltration. The Powers protect our souls from evil and act as ministers of God who avenge evil in the world, they fall under the rule of  Christ who sits at Gods right hand, I Peter 3:22 states, "Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto Him."

Virtues: The Virtues are sometimes referred to as "the shining or brilliant ones." They govern all of nature. Virtues have control over seasons, stars, and the moon; even the sun is subject to their command. They are the angels of miracles, encouragement and blessings. Virtues become involved wherever people are struggling with their faith. The key duties of these angels are to work miracles on earth. They are allowed to intervene with respect to the physical laws of the earth, but they are also responsible for supporting these laws. Virtues are also in charge of providing courage, grace and valor.

Principalities:
These angels have "princely" powers, they are a legion of angels who protect religions. Principalities provide strength to the tribes of earth to pursue and endure their faith, they watch over the leaders of people.  Principalities are also reported to be the guardians over the nations of the world.

Archangels:  The Archangels communicate between God and mortals or humans (us). They are in charge of heaven^s armies in the battle against hell, constantly fighting the sons of darkness. The Archangel supervises the "guardian" angels and are themselves guardian angels to such great people as head of religion, heads of states, etc. They are "messengers" that carry the Divine decrees of Gods messages to man.

Angels: These angels are closest to the material world and human beings.  Angels deliver the prayers of man to God and bring God^s answers back to us, yet the are still spirits, Hebrews 13:2 "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." God may send an angel to minister to us in many other forms because, they are closes to being any material thing that God requires for them to be to accomplish His will.
